The challenge was clear: how do you develop an identity that can carry such diversity without fragmentation? How do you bring structure to a rich programme without losing the essence of cinema? Our starting point was “Celebrating cinema” not as a campaign line, but as a strategic direction: film at the centre, content as the carrier of the brand. We translated the aesthetic of classic cinema lightboxes into a contemporary, modular system never retro, but a clear structure that works today.
We chose a black-and-white base identity with bold typography as its foundation, creating calm and recognisability. The films themselves bring colour and atmosphere through stills and covers, ensuring the content remains dominant, not the form. The logo was designed as a flexible frame: the space between “De” and “Cinema” functions as a fillable canvas where imagery, typography, or motion can become part of the mark. Subtle lines reference the cinema screen and the hanging system of classic announcements an editorial, not decorative, cue.
We developed a modular typographic grid system, giving titles, dates, labels, and context fixed roles to ensure consistency across all applications. Classics, cult, documentary, art film, focus series, and collaborations all fit within one clear framework variation in content, stability in form. In parallel, we reworked the website architecture to match the tools programmers use every day, and to connect seamlessly with the Ticketmatic flow, from overview to detail, from context to conversion so visitors can explore and book immediately.
Built as fully specified Figma templates with fixed components and styles, the system enables editors, programmers, and site managers to create content independently while safeguarding consistency.
The result is a scalable identity: a brand that moves with the programme yet remains instantly recognisable online and offline, today and tomorrow.
